Laying Short Priced Favourites is The Key

By on Nov 7, 2013 in Aida Racing |

For many years now I have believed that laying favourites at short prices is the key to long term success when laying horses to lose.

Many people lay horses at big prices and they may well have a nice long string of losers that keeps on topping up their Betfair account. But then, the almost inevitable happens and a very unexpected 33/1 shot romps in and takes all of their profits and possibly their entire betting bank too!

This, in my humble opinion, is not the way to make money laying horses to lose. If you are going to lay horses, then think like a bookie and lay the favourite.

Surely the only way to win long term is to take on favourites who are likely to be too short in the betting for their respective ability.

Personally I always try to find a horse at 2/1 or less to lay, and I love to find odds-on shots to lay. Here are my last 12 lay bets: –

10/10 Kempton 5.20 Gabrial The Boss – Lost 5/2*

22/10 Lingfield 3.00 Courageous Rock – Lost 7/4

24/10 Ludlow 5.20 Makari – Won 1/3

25/10 Fakenham 5.00 Prince Siegfried – Lost 8/13

26/10 Chepstow 2.25 Just A Par – Lost 2nd 4/7

29/10 Ffos Las 2.30 Get It On – Won Evs

31/10 Stratford 3.10 Listen Boy – Lost 3rd 6/4

2/11 Wetherby 1.15 Gone Too Far – Won 4/6

2/11 Wetherby 3.35 Long Run – Lost 4/5

5/11 Exeter 2.50 Cue Card – Lost 11/10

5/11 Southwell 4.10  Millkwood – Lost 2nd 4/5

7/11 Wolverhampton 4.20 Musaddas – Lost 2nd 4/11

+10 Points Profit from the last 12 bets.

* Gabrial The Boss was advised earlier on in the day to be taken on at 6/4 or lower but the price drifted out to an SP on 5/2.

There were six odds-on favourites and four of them lost which is always great to see including ‘Musaddas’ at just 4/11 on today.

This is a very selective service, there will not be selections everyday. If you have patience and discipline I am confident you can make money from following this laying service.
