Yesterday ‘Goldikova’ could not cope the hugely impressive turn of foot of ‘Canford Cliffs’. However, it was mentioned several times before and after the race that ‘Goldikova’s’ jockey Olivier Peslier had put up 1lb overweight but it has emerged since that the jockey was actually 2lb overweight.

Whether or not this made a difference yesterday we will never, but it certainly cold have. Even a race horse will notice the difference carrying an extra 2lb (bag of sugar) over a mile.

Still, that’s racing and while I was disappointed to see ‘Goldikova’ getting beat, the winners performance was impressive.
