It was a better day yesterday on the BLOG with two winners from the selections. First ‘Noble Prince’ won at 4/1 in the first race and in the 2.40 ‘Albertas Run’ won at 6/1.

Today is The Gold Cup of course and it certainly does not look an easy race to crack. There is the young challenger in ‘Long Run’ going against the proven performers, ‘Kauto Star’, ‘Denman’ and last years winner ‘Imperial Commander’.

I would absolutely love it if ‘Kauto Star’ could emulate the likes of ‘Arkle’ and Best Mate’ and win a third Gold Cup but I fear age is ow against him and he might not be the force he was two years ago. But if he can prove me wrong it will be a truly awesome performance.

‘Denman’ at 11 is the same age as ‘Kauto Star’ and despite his wind operation he will have to be at his best to win today and age could also be catching up to him too. ‘Imperial Commander’ won well last year and is the forecast favourite but I feel at 100/30 the price is too short for such a tricky race.

‘Long Run’ at 6 may be a little on the young side to win today and the horse has not won at this course before so at the forecast 9/2 I am giving him the swerve too.

While ‘Midnight Chase’ has to improve further today and his trainer is not in form the horse does love it at Cheltenham and he has won at the course four times and he last three wins have been over the same fences. So at the forecast 14/1 I will be taking a chance with him.
