When I am struggling to find consistent winners, as is often the case in this game, I sometimes look at how the tipsters in the Racing Post are getting on. For example yesterday out of the 52 tipsters in the NAPs Competition only 17 found a winner and the biggest price was only 9/4.

As someone who reads form and tries his level best to provide horses with a winning chance at a reasonable price I know only too well about the ups and downs of this pursuit. However what I do not want to do is resort to tipping short priced favourites just to try and get a winner.

When I saw the NAPs Competition last night while I didn’t feel any better about my own selections yesterday it does make you realize that you are not the only one struggling to beat the bookie.

Yesterday I gave selections in five races but the winners did not come I am afraid ending up with three 3rd places.

My selections for today are as follows: –

Towcester 3.10 No.7 Glebehall Bay

Towcester 4.40 No.1 Destroyer Deployed

Southwell 3.30 No.8 King’s Counsel

Southwell 4.30 No.8 Interchoice Star
