Horse Racing Tips and Racing Systems That Work…At least some of the time anyway!

Another 20/1 Winner!

By on Aug 2, 2010 in Aida Racing |

I hope you managed to read the BLOG on Saturday before the big race The Steward’s Cup.

I included for you my two main selections for the race along with 3 others I quite fancied. But it was my two main fancies that romped away with the race.

‘Evens And Odds’ Won at 20/1 – Ridden by Billy Cray

‘Jonny Mudball’ was 2nd at 14/1 – Ridden by Seb Sanders

I would love to be able to give results like this for you every Saturday, but racing is a tough game in which to make consistent profits.

Last week there were actually two 20/1 winners on the line as well as others winners at 6/1, 6/4 and 11/4.

Today I have two snippets of information that are well worth taking note of.

The first relates to The Steward’s Cup on Saturday and other similar big field Handicaps. Having backed horses in these races for many years I believe backing at prices below 10/1 is a little bit crackers.

Why? – I’ll explain. Usually in these races the prize money is high and therefore trainers will target their horses at such races. This therefore makes the races themselves incredibly competitive and potentially very difficult betting mediums.

Today’s 1st Tip – find some value whenever you bet in races that are as competitive as the Heritage Handicaps are they are often called.

My 2nd Tip today relates to short priced favourites in Handicap races. Today in the 3.15 at Ripon, the forecast favourite was ‘Sarrsar’ at 3/1. The horse was relatively unexposed so still may have been worth backing if you believed it was value. However the horse actually went off as the 4/5 on favourite.

To me this was a crazy price no matter how much money had been placed on a horse with significantly less experience than the rest of the field and in a Handicap.

Today’s 2nd Tip – Just because a horse is heavily backed does not mean it has more chance of winning that it did before the price dropped. This is especially relevant in Handicap races so avoid these short prices is the strong advice.

Thanks for reading, I will do my best to find more good priced winners in the coming weeks and months and no doubt I will find them.
